Obituary of Richard Runar Carlson

Richard Runar Carlson, 70, of Wappingers Falls, passed away at his home on May 8, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Richie was an electrician who worked in New York City for the IBEW Local 3 for forty years. In retirement, he was a co-host with Joel Tyner on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings on a radio show on WHVN 95 AM. He was a charter member of the Real Majority Project, the Dutchess Peace Coalition, Mid-Hudson Progressive Alliance and the Mid-Hudson 9-11 Truth Movement. During his lifetime he was an activist for peace, truth, and justice in his community and the world. Richie is survived by his son, Adam and his fiancé, Samantha; granddaughter, Lilyana and a special niece, Elisabet Carlson who cared for him in his final days. He is also survived by his sister, Julie Falcone; brothers, Harold Roy and wife, Theresa, Karl and wife, Janet, Ralph and wife, Teresa; many nieces and nephews and their families. His former wife Jane also survives. He was predeceased by his parents, Levi and Elin and his sisters, Lillian and Vivian. Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
