Obituary of Ruth L. Owen

Ruth L. Owen, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center. She was 70. Daughter of the late Floyd and Gladys Wilson Knapp, she was born June 26, 1943 in Beacon. Educated in the Wappingers School System, Ruth worked at Chemprene in Beacon. When not working, she could be often found working in her yard. She is survived by her children, Cathleen Denizard and her husband, Anthony of Wappingers Falls, Wilfred Owen, Jr. of Wappingers Falls, Lisa Owen of Wappingers Falls and John Owen of Wappingers Falls, her siblings, Betty Spraski of Connecticut, Stella Heady of Beacon, Millard Knapp and his wife, Pat of LaGrange, Arthur Knapp of Kingston, and Walter Knapp of Florida; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Amanda, Scott and Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Owen in 1986; her companion, Frank Paonessa in 2002 as well as her brother, Floyd Knapp, Jr.; and sister, Loretta Deguise. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.
