Obituary of Mary Jane Racz

Mary Jane Racz, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 81. Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Meyer Germiller, she was born December 21, 1931 in Poughkeepsie. She married Joseph F. Racz on October 3, 1959 in Pleasant Valley. Mr. Racz preceded her in death on February 19, 1992. Mary Jane was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill where she was a former member of the choir. She was active in the Wappingers Senior Center and formerly worked at the polling stations. Mary Jane enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. Most importantly, she enjoyed time spent with her family especially cooking large meals. She is survived by her six children, Jacqueline Racz of White Plains, Michael Racz and his wife, Patricia of Castleton, New York, Joseph P. Racz and his wife, Lisa of Souderton, Pennsylvania, Theresa Mandigo and her husband, Glenn of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, John Racz and his wife, Lynn of West Hartford, Connecticut and Mary Digilio and her husband, Robert of Newburgh; her brother, Richard Germiller; her sisters, Barbara Herles and Monica Maher; her fifteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Anna, Aubrey, Joey, Stephen, Glenn, Kristen, Michael, Shannon, Olivia, Julia, Robert, Danielle, Nicholas, and Michaela; as well as several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lagrange Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Jane's memory to St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
