Obituary of Joseph Crotone

Joseph Crotone of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Monday, November 11, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 75. Son of the late Domenico and Alessandra DalCero Crotone, he was born on November 7, 1938 in Montecchia di Crosara, Verona Province, Italy. There, he married the former Elaine DalCortino on July 16, 1960; Mrs. Crotone survives at home in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Crotone owned and operated Lion Plumbing and Heating in Poughkeepsie for decades, until his retirement. He was a former member of the Rotary Club of Fishkill, Mechanical Contractors Association of America, and Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local 201, where he was on their Board of Trustees. He was also a communicant of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. What made Joe most happy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; he touched all who knew him. In addition to his beloved wife, Elaine, he is survived by his son, Joseph J. Crotone of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Lisa McKevitt of Hyde Park, and Noel Crotone of Poughkeepsie; brothers, Santino Crotone, Vittorio Crotone and Maria Teresa, and Raffaella Crotone and Prosdocimo; sisters, Adele Crotone and Gastone, Maria Crotone and Rino, and Luciana Crotone; grandchildren, Thomas McKevitt, Joseph Crotone, III, Chelsea McKevitt, Jessica McKevitt, Alison Mikler, and Madison Mikler; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Rudy Guiliani Crotone. He was predeceased by his brother, Mario Crotone, and his sister, Sr. Benvenutta. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow in the Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, Poughkeepsie.
