Obituary of Janet Edgar Budd

Janet Edgar Budd, a resident of Staatsburg and former resident of Millbrook, Verbank and New Hamburg, entered into rest Friday, December 6, 2013 at Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 87. Daughter of the late Warren C. and Hazel Myers Edgar, she was born September 14, 1926 in Poughkeepsie and grew up in New Hamburg. Prior to her retirement, Janet worked in education and direct care at the Greer School in Millbrook, Dutchess County BOCES, the Green Briar Adult Home, where she later was a resident for several years, in Millbrook and Wassaic State Hospital. Janet was a longtime member of the Verbank United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved singing and dancing especially from the big band era. In her active years she enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. She loved her hometown of New Hamburg and treasured spending time by the river. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her kind, loving and compassionate spirit that showed through her work and involvement at church. She is survived by her children, John Budd and his wife, Barbara of Charlotte, North Carolina, Steven Budd and his wife, Terrie of Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania, Thomas Budd of Millbrook, Marielle Budd of Hawaii, Charles Budd of Rutland, Vermont and David Budd and his wife, Karen Holtslag of Kingston; her brother, Archibald Edgar of New Hamburg; her granddaughters, Kaitlyn Budd and Chelsea Budd; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the father of her children, Robert Budd and her brothers, Warren Lawson Edgar and Craig Edgar. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
