Obituary of Mary Jane Lang

Mary Jane Lang of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Friday, August 24, 2018 at New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor. She was 91.

Daughter of the late Frank and Emily Shea Francis, she was born on November 29, 1926 in Syracuse. She married Michael A. Lang, Sr. on August 14, 1948 in Syracuse. Mr. Lang preceded her in death, passing on April 28, 1998.

Mrs. Lang was raised in Syracuse, graduating from North High School in 1944. Prior to marriage, Mary Jane was employed as a buyer for Dey Brothers Department Store in Syracuse. She then spent many years making a warm and loving home for her husband and three children. When her daughters were young, Mary Jane was very active in Girl Scouts. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls.

Survivors include her children, Karen E. Rood and her husband, Peter of Whitney Point, Joanne M. Sereda of Beacon, and Michael Lang, Jr. and his companion, Ann Lund of Poughkeepsie; brother, Daniel Francis and his wife, Jo of Syracuse; sister, Sharon Lynn of Chesapeake, VA; sister-in-law and best friend, Katherine Kurtz of Syracuse; grandchildren, Michael A. Lang, III and his fiancée, Natalie Centouri of Danbury, CT, and Joseph B. Lang of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Francis.

Funeral services will be private.
