Obituary of Diana H. DeGroat

Diana H. DeGroat, a resident of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Monday, September 10, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 76.

Daughter of the late William and Marion Burbank Heath, she was born April 14, 1942 in Portland, Maine. On August 22, 1964 she married William S. DeGroat in Nyack. Mr. DeGroat preceded her in death on June 24, 1998.  Diana was an avid reader and enjoyed cross stitch and knitting. She was known for knitting for kangaroos for family and friends children.

Survivors include her children, Douglas H. DeGroat and his companion, Jennifer Summers of Walden and Katherine DeGroat of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Summers and Sage DeGroat; her sister, Barbara Christiano and her husband, Claude; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 14 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
