Alan and I share the same birth date and we spent many of our birthdays together. While growing up, I considered him my favorite cousin. In fact, he was my dream "boy", and I despaired of ever meeting someone who lived up to his standard.
Though we lost touch over the years, I never lost my love for him.
I send warm hugs to the whole family.

I had the privilege of knowing Alan (I was his housekeeper) for about 15 years. He was very interesting, sharing stories of his childhood with me. He was always eager to hear stories of my family and no matter how sick he was, would inquire how I was feeling as well as my family. He will be missed.

This indeed a sad occasion as my wife and I have visited the Hoffman home and always felt welcomed and loved. Alan was always caring and funny and my interactions with him and this family helped me to understand and love the woman I was to marry. They were always caring and funny and really challenged us. Alan was always there and first to smile. He will be missed.
I will always be grateful to him and this family.
