Obituary of Patricia Hawkins
Patricia, “Patty” was born in Brooklyn on April 23, 1941 in St Mary’s Hospital to parents Sarah Harvey and Alfred Johnson, yet was adopted by Mrs. Hawkins when she was five years old. Patty lived in Staten Island and moved up to the Hudson Valley in 1963 where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Patty worked at Gateway Community Industries, Inc. and retired from there in 2003. It was in 2012 that she happily moved into a lovely home nestled in the apple orchards of Milton, NY on Valentine’s Day.
Patty soon became a beloved part of the Greystone family- her sassy spirit, great sense of humor and quick wit shining through. She stayed part of the Greystone family when she moved to Wappinger’s Falls in 2014 and began attending River Valley Adult Health Care Program regularly and built lasting friendships.
Patty had a great love of all things involving music! She and her friends loved to watch Glee, she loved to sing and was an avid participate in the annual Holiday Extravaganza musical performance where her voice and her smile lit up the stage! She loved attending church and was an active participant at Bethel Church in Poughkeepsie where her beautiful voice could be regularly heard.
Music wasn’t her only passion- she loved to express herself with art as well and she and loved to shop for art supplies and anything else that caught her eye! Patty loved her jewelry and always enjoyed time out browsing the stores picking up new pieces.
As much as she enjoyed life, Patty enjoyed the simple moments. She often like to relax and reflect with a cup of Chai tea and honey, just quietly reflecting.
Patty will be greatly missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She truly was a no nonsense woman and her fiery spirit was unforgettable.
