Obituary of Julia T. Varuolo
Julia T. Varuolo, 90, of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Beacon, New York. She was born in Manhattan to the late Joseph and Concetta Varuolo in 1928. Julia grew up in NYC along with her brother John. Julia attended Epiphany Elementary School and Manhattan Trade School. Julia then went on to work for Rossini Dress Making. She later went on to work for Equitable Life Insurance for 35 years. She moved to Valhalla in 1973. She was kind, caring and generous. She was always looking to help others in need. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, playing bingo and traveling to Foxwoods. She loved to volunteer in her spare time. Julia was a faith-filled person who gave of herself in so many ways. In 1974, she became a member of the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla, serving as president from 1981 – 1983. She also served for many years as a Lector at Mass and a choir member. In the 1980’s, Julia became a member of the Good Counsel Guild, an organization that worked very hard to help support educational ministries of The Sisters of the Divine Compassion. Julia faithfully served as treasurer for nearly 20 years. In 2002, Julia took another step and became a Lay Associate of The Sisters of the Divine Compassion, giving of herself generously and reaching out to others wherever she saw a need. Julia was also a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
Julia is survived by her brother, John Varuolo of Wappingers Falls; Nephew, John (Provedenza) Varuolo of White Plains; Niece, Angela (Michael) Molina of Wappingers Falls; five Great Nephews, Nicholas, Christopher and Alexander Varuolo, and Michael-John and Matthew Molina; Nephews, Steven Gramolini of Long Beach, Michael (Tiffany) Gramolini of Flushing, Richard (Samantha) Gramolini of Arizona, Richard (Doreen) Varuolo of PA and Anthony (Mary) Varuolo of CT. Julia is also survived by many other great nieces and nephews and special friends.
Friends may visit on Tuesday November 13, 2018 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street in Fishkill. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
