Roseanne and Strouth Family!
On behalf of myself and the entire Paoloni family we are SO saddened by the loss of Mike. He was my favorite father of all of my friends. As I stated to Sean on FB. I have so many fond memories of early morning conversations in your kitchen with Sean, Mike and the boys. He would hear our voices looking for food and come up from his studio, leaving his night owl work, to join in, always giving us the best life lessons and advice. What I will remember most is his amazing sense-of-humor, his endless laughter and his perpetual smile when around the antics of our younger selves. My mom, Peggysends her love as well. She lost her life partner 3 years ago and it is never easy. She too recalls so many fun memories and laughter up in Ithaca all of those years.
With all out love and prayers!

I remember Mike as a very warm and accessible person. It will be 40 years ago this summer that he gave my wife and me a piece of his artwork as a wedding gift. It was a pen and ink drawing of a cityscape that hangs in our house to this day. It’s always been a reminder to me of Mike and his talent.

Mike was such a talent and such a great guy, along with being a wonderful husband and father. His love for Rosanne and hers for him was a beautiful thing to be around.
I met Mike in Kansas City in the late 60s. He was my first boss when I was hired by Hallmark to work in their Contemporary department as the company was beginning to venture into some new & daring (for Hallmark) art projects. Having Mike as our department leader was a real pleasure. He encouraged us to be our best and celebrated it with us when we succeeded (which, with his guidance, was most of the time). Mike & I also worked on many freelance projects together after those Hallmark days. Rest in Peace, my friend. You will be greatly missed.

Such fond memories of Mike from Sesame Street days. Rosie, so glad Joe and I were able to share those dinners with the two of you; good times, lots of laughs. I was thinking about Mike recently as I was scouting the web for artwork to use with my 3 to 5 year olds at church on Sundays. Most of what's out there is pretty bad. I thought, Mike Strouth should be designing this stuff. What a gift he had to create illustrations that children could enter into. His designs were clear, uncomplicated and pure--full of life. That certainly reflected Mike's own compassionate and vivacious nature. For so many reasons, I shall remember him with great admiration and affection. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. May you be blessed in all that you have shared, and the comfort of each other.

This is the loss of an extraordinary man, a creative vibrant force of nature and my heart is heavy. He will be remember with great love by his beautiful wife, children and grandchildren. I have had the good fortune to work with Roseann and Gretchen over the years and in I my brief interactions with Mike, I found him to be an extremely warm man with a strong presence, and, of course, I enjoyed seeing Mike's artwork that Roseann proudly shared as she got ready for the weekend art shows. God bless Mike as he looks down fondly on his beloved ones from the angelic realms! My deepest condolences
join those of the many people he touched.

Mike Strouth moved from Kansas City to be a very important member of the Colorforms family. Our toys were based on famous cartoon characters-- and those characters needed to 'come to life!' And, that's exactly what Mike was able to do, bring the characters to life.
The Licensing community loved Mike because he made their characters alive. And, Mel Birnkrant, our Creative Director, knew that we were in good hands with Mike--because Mike could handle any art project given to him and always surprise and delight the final audience-- our licensors and the kids themselves!
More importantly, Mike was a joy to work with one of the genuinely nicest people I've met. He was so refreshing (are people really that nice?!)
We will all miss him. Mike, thanks for the great memories.

I think I met Mike in 1978. He and Roseanne were patients in the dental office of Dr. Ritz and I loved them right away, and have ever since. I was so impressed that he worked for Colorforms, and that he was an artist. He even wore a beret. Haha. When I think of Mike he is always smiling in my mind. I will always think of him smiling. He was a really great father, husband and friend and just a very special person. ❤️

It's not many people that could leave behind a legacy of delighting thousands and thousands of children, a gift and heritage that will live on and on. Mike's art for Sesame Street, so bold, colorful and somehow brightly optimistic, will do that. Still, we know that's such slight comfort for this loss.
I'm so sorry for your sadness, Rosanne, Sean, Laurissa, Gretchen and Brian – and all the other friends and family he leaves behind. How wonderful, though, that he'll live on through your own sunny days and memories together, especially with so many grandchildren and future great-grandchildren who will know him through his art and your stories.
I met Mike in person only a few times through his work for the magazines and books here at Sesame Workshop and liked him immensely. More often, I "met" and knew him through his work and notes, and heard other people speak of him – art directors who so much enjoyed teaming with him (he listened and was so dedicated to quality work) and up-and-coming artists who wanted to be like him.
This year, Sesame Street's 50th, was already going to be a year where we looked back, remembering in happiness and sadness the people who helped make Big Bird, Grover, Cookie Monster, Ernie and Bert and their friends become real for kids. People like Mike, who let children cuddle up with those friends during loving moments with family at home. Now Mike is added to the ones we'll remember with gratitude and smiles. But for now, it's tears we share with you, as we send you our wishes for comfort in a sad, sad time.

Anyone, who has ever had the pleasure of meeting Mike, immediately recognized the fact that he was an Incredibly nice guy. Nonetheless, I’ve often wondered how many of them realized that they were in the presence of an Amazing Artist, hiding in plain sight. Mike’s boundless Talent was simply Awesome! He had a kind of King Midas gift that imbued all the Art he ever touched with Magic. I witnessed this phenomenon firsthand, for Destiny blessed me with the privilege of working beside him, in Perfect Harmony, for thirteen of the best years of our lives. Mike’s legacy will live forever, not only in the hearts and memories of his loving and beloved family, but in the cherished childhood memories of the hundred million children that his delicious artwork inspired worldwide.

I was at Sesame Street back in the 70s, and knew Mike through Colorforms....he was a top illustrator for us on many toy projects, and was always fun to work with because, even though the deadlines always slipped away, Mike’s work was worth the wait! I SO loved the Mickey Mouse products he did, and have two original cels of seed packets that Mike so generously gave me! My condolences to his family on losing such a wonderful man!
