Obituary of Shawn Sickler
Shawn was born February 4, 1967, and always called the Hudson Valley his home. He lived in a few areas of Dutchess County until 2008, when he found his true HOME, which he affectionately called the “White House”. Shawn quickly became a beloved and well known part of the Greystone Family! Everyone who had the pleasure to know and love him did their very best to make sure he lived his life to the fullest and that he knew without a doubt that he was part of a family and finally home. He was very active in his home life- knowing the daily schedule for everything and everyone.
Shawn was a February baby- born in the same month as Valentine’s Day—so it no wonder that he had a big heart that was full of love and his favorite color was red! From his bedroom wall color to his very favorite shirt, red was the color that he chose to surround himself with.
Shawn was an extraordinary man who could see the beauty in everything. He expressed himself through art and loved to create unique masterpieces. His art was as soulful, vibrant and full of life as he was! Not only did he use art to express himself, but he loved music as well. He loved to sing and anyone who watched him couldn’t help but to get caught up in his excitement and joy.
Shawn loved trains and planes. He was lucky to live so close to a local airport, it allowed him ample opportunities to watch the sky for a glimpse of a plane flying by. Trains were his absolute favorite and he loved to be at the local train station. Shawn would return home from the station and go on and on about how many trains he saw and how many more he planned to see the next time he was there.
Shawn will be greatly missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. We find comfort in knowing Shawn is at peace, watching over us all while enjoying some Chinese food and a Pepsi Cola! His heart was big, his soul pure and his spirit fierce.
