Obituary of Gloria Sanchez
Gloria was born to Angela Sanchez and Romeo Hernandez Contin in Santiago, Dominican Republic on April 23, 1951. It wasn’t until her late teens that she and her family moved to the United States, shortly thereafter she moved up to the Hudson Valley where she resided for the remainder of her life. In 2011, she met her housemates and was fortunate to call “The View” her new home. She became a vivacious part of the Greystone Family, a presence that has been definitely missed by all of her friends.
Gloria was a strong woman who liked to be the boss; she was tenacious and always knew what she wanted in life! She was bilingual and didn’t hesitate using her words or her hands, specifically pointing her finger, to indicate issues, concerns or simple things that she wanted addressed. She always made sure everyone knew what she was feeling- and when she was happy her bright smile conveyed that far better than any words could do.
Gloria loved to party and to get dressed up to celebrate at any opportunity! Music and good food fed her soul and connected her to so many who share those same interests. The strong rhythmic beats of Latino music made her happy and she enjoyed it until the very end. Bold and bright colors showcased her personality and she accented everything she wore with her prized jewelry. She is remembered for her appreciation of beautiful bracelets and rings; she was never without and always admired others.
Gloria has left a void; the house is quiet and a little less bright since she left. She is survived by those who loved and lived with her over the last nine years, as well her brother, nieces and great nieces.
