Obituary of Robert J. Smith

Robert J. Smith, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, November 16, 2019 at his home. He was 56.

Son of Marylyn McDonnell Smith and the late Robert E. Smith, he was born September 2, 1963 in Newburgh.

Bob worked as a stocker for ShopRite for twenty-eight years, most recently in Poughkeepsie. He was an avid football fan and has rooted for the Steelers since he was a boy.  

In addition to his mother Marylyn Smith, he is survived by his siblings, Carolyn, William and his wife, Lynn and Elizabeth; his sister-in-law, Carol; his nieces and nephews, Sean and wife, Lina, Caitlin, Kayleigh, Will, Madeleine, Arianna, Danielle and Corinne; his great-nieces and great-nephew, Camila, Samantha and Emmit; his Aunt Katie and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob was predeceased by his brother, Daniel in 2017.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction.
