Obituary of Anthony Banks

Anthony Banks, a resident of Highland Mills and formerly longtime resident of Rockland County, entered into rest Sunday, August 9, 2015 surrounded by his family at his home. He was 57. Son of the late Shed and Charter Primus Banks, he was born June 23, 1958 in Brooklyn and raised in Queens. He married the love of his life, Holly Zuber on July 2, 1988. Prior to his recent retirement, Tony worked as a Principal Bank Examiner for the New York State Department of Financial Services and Insurance in Manhattan. Through his work, he was a member of PEF where he was actively involved. Tony was also active and involved with many other groups and organizations including officiating High School and College Basketball, Jack and Jill of America, SUBOA, RLOC and the CEJJES Institute. Tony also coached Basketball in Rockland County, was an avid tennis player and had a lifelong love of fishing. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wappingers Falls. In addition to his loving wife, left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Jordan and Joshua Zuber-Banks; his brother, Gary Banks; sister, Annette Banks; godson, David C. Zuber; goddaughter, Sidney Zuber; his mother-in-law, Alberta G. Zuber; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Darlene Zuber-Bishopp, David Zuber, Hugh Zuber, Karla Zuber, Alita Zuber; as well as Linda Molina, Patricia Rhames-Banks and his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Dr. Edward L. Hunt officiating. In as much as Tony was an avid tennis player, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tony Banks Memorial Tennis Bench at Ramapo High School, c/o Nicole Moorer, 11 Dakota Court, Suffern, NY 10901.
