Obituary of Lucy M. Costa
Lucy M. Costa 84, a long-time and beloved Dutchess County resident, more recent a current resident of Oldsmar, FL passed from this life to eternity in God's hands on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Mease Countryside Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Lucy was born in Beacon on September 27, 1930 to the late John Failla and Nancy Occhipinti-Failla and attended schools in Beacon.
Lucy was predeceased by her husband John J. Costa whom she married on June 27, 1948 at St. John's Church in Beacon. Survivors include her son Thomas Costa of Oldsmar, Florida, her daughter, Ann Marie Haley and grandson Shane of Wappingers Falls, her brother, Michael Failla of Florida, her sister, Mary Failla of California She was predeceased by her brothers Ralph & Anthony Failla, and stepbrothers Salvatore & Joseph Failla. There were four very special people in her life that showed unconditional love, support, kindness, prayers and care every day – Kimberly Martins (godchild) Carl Howard (extended son), Mattie Nunez (her angel who took care of her every day) and her cousin Nancy from Castleton, NY. The family is forever thankful for such wonderful people who touch not only Mom's life everyday but our family as well.
Lucy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt and friend - she touched the lives of everyone who crossed her path. She was a homemaker and provided childcare services to numerous children of all ages for many years and treated each and every one of them as if they were her own. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and after moving to Florida she enjoyed traveling throughout the US and several islands with her husband. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends, reading and playing bingo every chance she got.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2015 at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church in Tarpon Springs, FL. Inurnment with will take place on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00am at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery Mausoleum, Rt. 9, Fishkill, NY.
