I had the pleasure to know Edna for the past six years. She was a beautiful, elegant, and classy lady, with a sweet and gentle spirit. She was a very wise woman, and I've enjoyed our time together, especially our walks and talks. She was a gifted and talented artist who truly learned to master her art. The job of an artist is to hold up a mirror, so others can see and appreciate their community around them. I am grateful for the chance to have met Edna and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to see the world through her beautiful eyes.
She will be forever missed.

Edna Crawford was a wonderful Aunt. She brought warmth, enthusiasm and creativity to all aspects of our family life. As a little girl I loved to watch her sketch fashion designs and create fashion layouts for her job in Manhattan’s fashion district. She explored modeling as well and was a lovely example of womanhood from the “Charm School” era.
On summer evenings, when she returned home from work my girlfriends and I would chant, “Here comes beauty!” When Aunt Edna became a wife and mother, she perfected home interior design and landscaped the exterior with gorgeous flower beds. She prepared countless delicious holiday meals for us all to share. I remember how excited she was as she developed her painting and sculptural talent professionally with great success. We are fortunate to share her artistic legacy with institutions such as Howard University and the Schomberg Library as a fitting tribute to this wonderful woman.
