Carol DeLisa

Obituary of Carol A. DeLisa

Carol A. (Lombardi) DeLisa entered into rest on August 10, 2020. She was 68 years old. She was born in WhitePlains, NY to the late Pauline (Adragna) Lombardi and Joseph Lombardi. Carol worked alongside her husband for many years in their woodworking business until she retired to care for her ailing parents. After her cancer diagnosis in 2013, she was determined to help spread awareness so that other women would not be blindsided by this awful disease. Named after her grandchildren, The EllaCris Women’s Cancer Foundation was born. She held annual events to honor women who were stricken with this disease as well as raise funds and spread awareness. She spent countless hours speaking to them about the signs, symptoms and health options available. She advocated, educated and offered her continued support during their darkest hours. Carol helped to bring numerous women to early diagnosis. She created a network to connect renowned healthcare professionals with patients in desperate need across the country. She did this all while battling her own disease. She was never hesitant to put her own pain and discomfort aside to answer the call of one of her “teal sisters.” Carol leaves behind her devoted and loving husband Louis T. DeLisa of a Wappingers Falls. Her son Joseph Neff of Syracuse and his children, her beautiful grandchildren Alexis and Isabella. She is also survived by her loving daughter April and son-in-law Richard Pansa of Wappingers Falls, as well as their children and her beloved, cherished grandchildren Christopher and Gabriella. Carol will be most remembered for her wonderful cooking and over the top family dinners, her love of animals, her fierce nature and her loving and listening ear. She will live on forever in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy that both changed and saved the lives of countless women. Due to the circumstances with COVID-19, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to theellacrisfoundation.org.
