Obituary of Lorraine K. Lyons

Lorraine K. Lyons, a 36 year resident of Poughkeepsie and formerly of Yonkers, entered into rest Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 82. Daughter of the late Evelyn "Evie" Trask Bayer and George Bayer, she was born June 30, 1933 in Yonkers. On July 20, 1968, she married the love of her life, Peter Paul Lyons in Yonkers. Peter loving called her his "Pineapple Princess." Lorraine worked as a secretary for Otis Elevator, Yonkers Public Library and lastly Nassau Elementary School in Poughkeepsie. She retired from the school in 1999 after over 15 years. She was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie and a member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Center. Lorraine loved to be surrounded by her family and friends, especially the little ones. She enjoyed cuddling with her puppy Elvis. Knitting and crocheting were her favorite pastimes. In addition to her husband Peter Lyons, she is survived by her sister, Evelyn Burns of Poughkeepsie; her son, Johnny T. Redding and his wife, Irma of California; her daughter, Tracey Lynn Lyons of Poughkeepsie; her daughter, Tara Ann Kreidler and her husband, Drew of Aliso Viejo, California; her grandchildren, Louise Serpico and her husband, Philip of Yonkers, and Amanda and Brooke Kreidler of Aliso Viejo, California; her great-granddaughter, Catherine Serpico of Yonkers; her sisters-in-law, Kathy Holowzack and husband, Walter of Yonkers, Maureen Giorgi and husband, Joseph of Poughkeepsie, Louise Dulak and husband, Joseph of Yonkers and Terry Demuro and husband, Lou of Verbank; as well as many nieces and nephews and the family dog, Elvis. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, in Poughkeepsie.
