Obituary of William R. Gabel

William R. Gabel, a resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Fort Lee, New Jersey, entered into rest on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Elant at Fishkill. He was 79. Son of the late Rudolf and Elsa Hertel Gabel, he was born September 12, 1936 in Queens. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, Bill most recently worked at Phillips Semiconductors in East Fishkill. He was a longtime worshiper at Community Baptist Church in Wappingers Falls. Bill enjoyed woodworking, especially building furniture. He was a ball room dancer and enjoyed the time he spent dancing with his partner, Bertha Young. Survivors include Bertha Young of Wappingers Falls and her family: son, Lloyd Young and his wife, Cheryl of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Jennifer, Katherine, Alyson, and David; and great-grandchild, Jace. He is also survived by his brother, Rudolph Gabel and his wife, Evelyn; and nieces, Suzanne Gabel Bloom and Audrey Gabel A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Community Baptist Church, 226 All Angels Hill Road, Wappingers Falls with Rev. William Dalrymple officiating. Interment will be private at Linden Hill Methodist Cemetery in Ridgewood, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Baptist Church, 226 All Angels Hill Road, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
