Obituary of Martin W. Torre

Martin W. Torre, a loving husband, father and Poppy passed away on January 11, 2021 at his home in Wappingers Falls, surrounded by his family. Marty was born in Howard Beach, Queens, on September 3, 1943, to Audrey and Frank Torre. On May 4, 1968, he married the love of his life, Janet Torre, who survives at home. Marty retired from Liberty Lines Bus Company in 2004, where he was a bus driver for over 30 years. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed sharing in their lives and watching them grow. He especially loved cheering them on from the sidelines whether it be a soccer, basketball, softball or a field hockey game. He was truly their biggest fan. His love of thoroughbred horses was a lifelong interest. Marty was also a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls. In addition to his wife, Janet, Marty is survived by his son, Frank Torre and his wife, Elena and his daughter Gina Guerriero and her husband, Nunzio; and his grandchildren, Anthony, Joseph, Isabella, Emily, Gabriella and Frank John. He also leaves behind his buddy and companion Sammy (his Boston Terrier) who survives at home. Marty was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Trudy Robinson and his brother, Frank Torre. Family will receive their friends on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. A private burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
