Obituary of Ferenc Istvan Herczeg
Ferenc Istvan “Frank” Herczeg, a resident of Walkill, entered into rest Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home. He was 57.
Son of the late Istvan and Alba Panichi Herczeg, he was born February 2, 1963 in Tarrytown, New York. He was a graduate of Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls. He worked as a Corrections Officer at Downstate Correctional Facility. Frank was a man of many interests and hobbies. He was proud of the fact he could speak 5 languages which he taught to himself. He loved to ride motorcycles. He was a member of SASS. He had an easy going likeable personality and always had a smile on his face and witty remark that made everyone laugh.
He leaves behind his lifelong partner, Deborah Plavchak and his brother, Joseph Owens and his wife, Lisa. Although he never had children of his own, he was very fond of Debbie’s children, Jason Feasel and wife, Jennifer and their children, Robbie, Alex and Willow, Michelle Plavchak and her daughter, Brynlee and Sarah Plavchak and her fiancé, Michael McGrath. He was affectionately known as Grandpa Dink. He is also survived by many friends and relatives in Hungary, Italy and the United States.

Due to Covid restrictions, a memorial service will be planned for when it is safe to gather.
