Obituary of Olga Jubinsky

Olga Jubinsky of Hyde Park entered into rest Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was 98. Daughter of the late Pontelemon and Pelegia Walko Hruby, she was born on September 2, 1922 in Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania. She married the love of her life, Michael Jubinsky on July 20, 1940 in New York City. After 64 years of marriage, Mr. Jubinsky preceded her in death, passing on January 22, 2005. Olga spent her years making a warm and loving home for her husband and two children. She was proudly a founding member of St. Gregory’s Orthodox Church in Wappingers Falls. Even the very first St. Hope Society meeting was held at her home. Olga did anything she could for her church, anytime. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking and crosswords. Survivors include her children, Joseph Jubinsky and his wife, Shirley of Fishkill and Barbara Ponte and her husband, William of Poughkeepsie; sisters, Dorothy Bock of Endicott and Anne Hutnyan and her husband, John of Bloomfield, NJ; her sister-in-law, Mary Sigler of Bethesda, MD; grandchildren, Gregory and Lisa Censullo; great-grandchildren, Shaolin, Joseph and his wife, Emily and Dominic; and several Godchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, Samuel, Andrew and Joseph Hruby, and her sisters, Mary Duin, Anne Hruby, Helen Dolan and Pearl Labick. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will follow visitation at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 2105 Belmont Turnpike, Union Dale, PA. Interment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Union Dale, PA. In compliance with NYS guidelines, wearing of masks and social distancing are required during all services.
