Obituary of Marc J. Kemmis

Marc J. Kemmis of Fishkill, NY, died unexpectedly of a cardiac arrest on Friday, February 5, 2021 at home. He was 53. Born on March 14, 1967 in Wappingers Falls, NY, he was the son of James and Rosemary Kemmis of North Fort Myers, FL. He leaves behind a wife of 30 years, Kristianne Kemmis. Marc was a Master Welder and the owner of M & K Welding. He was a great outdoorsman and had a great passion for hunting, something that he passed onto his grandson, Johnny. Marc was in the process of restoring a house in the Hughsonville historic district and his grandchildren, Emma and Johnny were helping him. Marc had a great love for animals; that love began at the age of 12 when he started working at a local farm. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughter, Julie Zielinski and her husband John; son, Cyle Kemmis; two grandchildren, Emma & Johnny; brother, Brian C. Kemmis; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 35 Willow Street in Beacon. Masks must be worn and social distancing practiced during all services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
