Son of the late Victor and Gilda Moscatello Tripaldi, he was born on New Year's Day, 1946 in the Bronx. He married the love of his life, Betsy, on December 29, 1984 at Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls; Mrs. Tripaldi survives at home.
Michael was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving with the United State Marine Corps, from where he was honorably discharged in 1969. During his service, he received several commendations and decorations such as the Marksmanship Rifle Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Later he worked as a computer programmer for various companies throughout New York City. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed woodworking, cooking and wine making; he was famous for his delicious wines. He had a great love of travel and was proud of the fact that he had been on five continents. His most recent trip was a three week tour throughout Great Britain and Ireland. He fell ill on the last leg of his trip in London. He fought a brave battle to get better, but God decided it was time to call him home. Michael was a 30 year member of Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls.
Michael was the beloved husband of Betsy Tripaldi of Wappingers Falls; loving father to Jason Tripaldi and his wife, Heather of Beacon, and Jessica Tripaldi of Hopewell Junction, and step-father to Shane Johnson and Lance Johnson, both of Poughkeepsie; and doting grandfather of Victoria, Aiden, Sortia and Caellum Tripaldi. He is also survived by his aunt, Rosalie Moscatello, several cousins and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Tripaldi.
Michael gave the gift of his earthly self to the Anatomical Gift Program, benefitting the education of others. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation.
