Obituary of Gordon Leonard Burger
Gordon Leonard Burger, a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Monday, July 5, 2021 at Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation in Haskell, New Jersey. He was 75.
Son of the late Harry G. and Florence Flynn Burger, he was born March 30, 1946 in Beacon. He attended Wappingers Central School District. Prior to his retirement, he was a laborer with Local 235 and Local 1000 in Elmsford. Gordon was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls where he was also an usher. He was a life member of the New Hamburg Fire Company. Gordon enjoyed rooting for the Yankees, Giants and Rangers. He also enjoyed watching wrestling. Gordon loved dressing up for any gathering and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sisters, Janet Salvatore and Lois Zeoli; his brothers, Thomas Burger and his wife, Christel and Raymond Burger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean Scribner; brothers-in-law, Nick Salvatore, Mike Zeoli and Stuart Scribner; and his nephews, Steven Scribner and Ryan Burger.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 12 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
