Obituary of Hilda Estay
Hilda Lorna Estay passed on Thursday, August 5, 2021 in Poughkeepsie, NY after a brief illness. Hilda was born in Chuquicamata, Chile on January 24, 1934. She was an airline stewardess for near 40 years for a number of airlines but primarily for Eastern Airlines. She travelled the world and visited many major attractions. Some of her favorite spots were Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and France. Although she had a deep love and appreciation for her own country and culture, she considered herself a native New Yorker. Amongst her favorite places to visit where The Met Opera, Lincoln Center, Broadway, and MoMa. She liked going out for cocktails and having a good time with friends. She also enjoyed fine shopping especially at her nearby Bloomingdale’s. She was always the life of the party and took pleasure in looking fabulous for a night on the town.
She was also very loyal to her family. She is pre-deceased by her father Juan Estay and mother Nora Estay and brother Domingo Estay (Maria Teresa). She is survived by her brother Juan Estay (Enriqueta), sister Janice Estay Butler (John Butler) and nephews John Estay, Walter Estay, Edward Butler, Andres Estay, David Estay and Claudio Estay and nieces Janice D’anduono, Nora Butler Anderson, Annie Butler, Janice Butler, and Monica Estay Simpson
