Marjorie Tubbs

Obituary of Marjorie Tubbs

Marjorie Tubbs passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of August 30th.  She was 94 years old.

Marjorie Tubbs was born to Benjamin and Clara Correa in Honomu, Hawaii.  She lived an idyllic childhood in the sugar cane plantations with her 11 brothers and sisters, her horse Daisy and a pet pig who followed her to school each morning.  She lived her adult life in New York where she married and raised her own family.

Marjorie held many different jobs throughout her lifetime--all of them somehow related to food:  waitress, cook, baker.  She was an astounding cook and baker.  She was always cooking or baking for those close to her.  Marge poured her love into what she prepared.  Blessed was the person who received one of her delights.

Marge was just as talented with power tools as she was with a spatula.  She was known to brandish a skill saw better than most.  Whether we, her family, liked it or not, she could often be found on the roof, in the basement, in the yard, in 3 feet of snow getting done what needed to be done. Stubbornly independent until her body and mind would no longer allow it.

Marge took pride in her garden and loved her flower beds.  Strangers would stop their cars as they passed her house to compliment the beauty.  A weed never stood a chance in Mrs. Tubbs' yard.

Marge's life had many chapters:  some painful, most joyous.  She went by many names:  Marjorie, "Mah Jah Jah," Marge, Margie, Miss Marjorie, Mrs. Terzigni, Mrs. Tubbs.  Her most cherished titles were "Ma," "Gram," "Mema."  Her lasting legacy are her 6 children--Rosemarie Blaney; Frank Terzigni; Danny Terzigni; Anthony Terzigni (who has been waiting since

2015 to guide her home); Deborah Tubbs, and Melissa Tubbs--as well as her grandchildren, great- and great-great grandchildren too numerous to name.

Ho’omaha maika’, makuahine. A hui hou mākou.
