Obituary of Maureen Theresa Wolfe

Our beloved Mother, Maureen Theresa Wolfe (aka “Mo”) who loved to be called Memo by her precious grandchildren entered into rest, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. She was 69.

Daughter of the late John and Rose Duggan, she was born on June 15, 1952 in Queens, NY. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis J. Wolfe, Sr. on September 1, 1973, in the Bronx. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2004.

Mo was a four-year resident of Fairport, NY and formerly of Clifton Park, NY and Wappingers Falls, NY. She was a member of Harvest Moon Church in Clifton Park, the Latham Women’s Club, and was previously active with the New Hackensack Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in Wappinger Falls. All who knew her understood her love of Snoopy. She loved to play cards and a dangerous game of Scrabble!

Mo worked for the New York State Department of Corrections for more than twenty-five years.  She was a dedicated member and served as President of the CSEA Labor Union in Albany working as a fierce advocate for public employees at the Department of Corrections. Her strength, character, and heart were known throughout the Department, and families throughout New York benefited from her work. Mo was vibrant, focused on high morale and was always the life of every office party. She cared deeply for others and was always at the center of many fundraisers supporting charities that include Adopt a Soldier, Wounded Warriors, and Puppies Behind Bars. Her colleagues knew Mo as a woman of strong faith and love for her family. She was fun, but she took her conviction to the Lord very seriously. She always talked to her colleagues about Dennis, her husband, and her little dog, Franklin. She bragged about her children at every chance. She had her little holiday get ups, and always said, "Trust the Lord."

Upon moving to Fairport, she moved into the Village Heights Apartment complex with her beloved dog Franklin. An animal lover, she also opened her heart adopting her calico cat, Cali. She built a community here, known for her sassy, spirited, fun-loving personality. She made her neighbors laugh and smile and was a fun-loving spirit at events. An avid card player she learned to play Euchre. This was a great time in her life and she always said these friends and neighbors were her family.

Survivors include her children, Alison Wolfe of Fairport, NY, Erica Wolfe of Henrietta, NY and Dennis J. Wolfe, Jr. and his wife, Jenn of Washingtonville, NY; her beloved grandsons, Dennis J. Wolfe, III and Daniel J. Wolfe of Washingtonville, NY; her brothers, John P. Duggan of New Hope, PA and Michael Duggan of Marble Head, MA; her nieces, Jeanne-Marie Jones, Renee’ Vadino, Kate Marsland and Dianne Gattorno; her nephews, John M. Duggan and John B. Duggan; as well as all of her much loved grandnieces and grandnephews.
