Obituary of Donald M. Smith

Donald M. Smith of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was 75.
Son of the late Howard and Elizabeth Smith, he was born on April 18, 1946. He married his beloved wife, Lidia, on October 14, 2007 in Wappingers Falls; Mrs. Smith survives at home.

Donald graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1965. He went on to earn a degree in medical technology. Donald enjoyed a 50 year-long career working as a medical technologist for Cornwall Hospital, as well as Castle Point VAMC. In his spare time he loved to travel, especially to Poland, his wife’s native country, and Aruba, where they celebrated their honeymoon and anniversaries. He also enjoyed fishing and photography. Donald loved to take photos of landscapes and nature, and took many beautiful photos over the years.
In addition to his wife, Lidia, survivors include his sons, Tyler Smith, Arthur Smith and Brian Smith; step-son, Jarek Zabczynski; twin brother, Ronald Smith; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590.

A funeral service will be held following visitation at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
