Obituary of John L. Fernandez

John “Jack” L. Fernandez entered into rest Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 78.
Son of the late Jack and Irene (Logan) Fernandez, he was born on November 4, 1943 in Poughkeepsie. On July 6, 1990, John married his beloved wife, Geraldine, in Beacon. They, along with her son, Jacob Morgan, spent over 33 years loving each other.

Jack enjoyed a long career as a manager for IBM in East Fishkill, until his retirement. His last 10 working years were spent with Fairway Testing in Stony Point. In his spare time, Jack was very active. He enjoyed jogging, tennis, swimming, white water canoeing and weight training. Jack also enjoyed baseball and football. He was fun loving and especially loved to play the guitar.
In addition to his wife and step-son, Jack is survived by his children, John Fernandez (Sandra) of Guam and Karen Donaldson (Keith) of Salt Point, along with their mother, Linda Furick (Bruce) of Fishkill; brother, Robert Fernandez (Lynda) of Clinton Corners; cherished grandchildren, Kristi (Suguro), Isa, Reyna and Kaylee; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Tony) and Audrey; and several nieces and nephews. He was a true lover of his family and everyone he knew, including his dogs.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Margie Quigley and Marilyn Nelson; and sister-in-law, Bernadette Paonessa.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590.

A memorial service will be held following visitation at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home; the Reverend Jan Fritzinger will officiate.
