I just learned of this terrible tragedy and I am in shock. Dawn has been a constant in my family's life since the mid-80's when my mom would bring my sisters and I for hair cuts at Hair Quarters. Over time she became a great family friend. My mom and sister lived nearby and continued to get their hair done at her house, while my dad spoiled the dogs with cookies. I am heartbroken over her passing. From the Mascali family, please accept our deepest condolences. We will miss her terribly. -Melissa Johannessen

After Mario and I got married in 1984 and moved to Croton Falls, we started to go to the salon for hair cuts. Never anticipated the friendships that were made over the years. Dawn, Denise, Roger, John Jr., John Sr., and Karen. What fun we had going to concerts, parties, New Year Parties, dinners, B.B.Q.s at our house, Valentine Parties, and of course bars. By 1994 we had moved around till we settled back in California. Some of our friends came and visited us. Others could not, but our phone calls were still personal, loving, and our friendship was intact to this day. You have had tremendous loss in a very short amount of time. Our hearts and love go out to you all. We are very sorry for this. Know our prayers are with you. Rest In Peace Dawn.

I have so many memories of Dawn over the past 40 years. There so just too many to name. She was like family. My last memory of her was standing in her driveway before I was leaving just four weeks ago and giving her a hug as we were talking about mom and dad and how now she needed to take care of herself. I will cherish the decades of memories. I love you Dawn and will miss you terribly. RIP my friend and Karma too!

My heart is breaking thinking about this loss. Dawn was first my hairdresser (after John, that is), then she became my friend, and that's the way she's stayed for years. I loved having her visit me after I moved to Savannah, and she and I discussed her making another trip here soon. We had a lot of good times together in Florida, wineries in New York, etc. My sincere condolences go to her family and all those friends who cared so much for her. Rest peacefully, my friend. OMG!my heart is broken,My very dearest and oldest best friend in the world is gone!I can not even begin to process this!We grew up together and have allot of beautiful and crazy memories!!WE DID HAVE FUN!! I have know dawn since probably 1995 I would go see her for haircuts and we would always have something to talk about. If I had an appointment with her and I was feeling kind of down, I could always talk to her because she was my friend not just my hairdresser. I will miss her very much!
