Obituary of Barbara E. Lena

Barbara was born on July 21, 1949 in Charleston, SC. To the late Mack Gaylord and Margaret L. Gaylord.  She graduated from the Nursing School at Dutchess Community College.   She was the Charge Nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY for almost 20 years, as well as the Unit Manager at Lowman Home in Irmo, SC for over 13 years.   
 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Michael Lena; and son, Jamie Lena.

She is survived by her son-Michael Lena, Jr. (Ellen), daughter- Sherri Poignant (Bruce), daughter- Toni Schiavo-Petschko (Jason), daughter/granddaughter Cassidy Lena. She was a proud grandmother of Brittany, Cassidy, Bradley, Austin (AJ), Dillon, James, Ryan, Jason, Sebastian, and Michael.   She was also very proud of her first great grandchild Thomas.   

          If flowers grow in heaven,

          Lord, then pick a bunch for me.

          Then place them in my mother’s arms

          And tell her they’re from me.

          Tell her that I love and miss her

          And when she turns to smile, 

          Place a kiss upon her cheek

          And hold her for awhile

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Mausoleum Chapel at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
