Obituary of Leslie Anne Urbanski

Leslie Anne Urbanski, 75, of Wappingers Falls, NY, passed from this life on June 26, 2022, attended by her loving family. Leslie was born in Utica, NY on July 25, 1946 daughter of the late Doris and Gilbert Cloyes. On August 17, 1968 she married Francis "Frank" R. Urbanski beside whose bodily ashes her own will be placed for eternity.

Leslie graduated from Charles W Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY and attended Ithaca College. She worked as a tailor for over 40 years, most of that time as sole proprietor of her business Alterations, Etc. where she was well known by the delicate accuracy of her work, and for never rushing a job whether it was a simple hem or every dress in a bridal party. She especially enjoyed prom season. She was a long-time member of the Jayncees, Union Jacks, Scottish Society and a very close-knit group of friends, many of whom regularly bowled, danced, celebrated, travelled, and laughed together. For decades, Leslie also volunteered at the polls.

Especially after Frank retired in 2001, the couple travelled often, by car, ship, plane, and train both within the US and abroad. Leslie always took great joy in filling her calendar with the next adventure. Also known as Mamgù (pronounced ma'am-Gee, "grandmother" in Welsh, owing to her heritage) she was always eager to play with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and to lend an ear and wise counsel to any who asked.

Leslie is survived by sons, Jason and wife Maria of Mahopac, NY and Bret and wife, Cindy of Charlotte, NC; her beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mason, Sophia, and Olivia; her sister Barbara and husband Normand Turcotte of Climax, NC and Yamilée and husband, Féderico Zúñiga of San Jose, Costa Rica; and more than three dozen nieces and nephews and their children, every one of which were individually important and loved.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11 am on July 18, 2022 at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376 in Wappingers Falls; where Leslie was a longtime member. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 am at the church. A livestream of the service may be viewed on the church's website, https://www.nhrc-church.org/.
