Obituary of Gayle B. Miller

Gayle B. Miller, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie and former longtime Mahopac resident, entered into rest Monday, July 18, 2022 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. She was 87.

Daughter of the late William Edward and Ruth Adam Haight Branigan, she was born January 24, 1935 in Peekskill. She was married to John Richard Miller, Sr. for sixty years until his passing on January 30, 2014. Gayle worked for Reader’s Digest in Carmel until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years. She treasured time spent at Springdale Manor in Lake George. Gayle was always about family and loved and cherished all. She will always be remembered for her happy smile, pleasant personality and strong character.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey D. Miller and his wife, Maria of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Judith A. Branigan Campbell and her husband, Jim of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Tanya Miller Pietragallo and her husband, Eric, Rachel Miller, Lauren Miller, Samantha Miller, Alan “AJ” Miller, Jr., Corey Miller, Brianna Miller, Leandra Miller, and Christopher Alan Miller; 4 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sons, John Richard Miller, Jr., Alan Edward Miller, and Christopher Lars Miller; her sisters, Joyce Anderson and Joan Ackerly; her brother, Corwin Branigan; and her granddaughter, Danielle Rene Miller.

Family and friends may gather from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Inurnment will follow in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt, NY 10567.
