Obituary of Aldo Nigrelli

Aldo Nigrelli, a resident of Hopewell Junction, entered into rest Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 70.

Son of the late Fedele and Carmela Chilelli Nigrelli, he was born October 1, 1951 in Longobardi, Italy. In 1977 he married the former Maria Pia Ciciarelli in Italy. Together they came to the United States in 1995. Mrs. Nigrelli survives at home in Hopewell Junction.

Aldo worked as a chef at Longobardi’s Restaurant in Wappingers Falls and Villa Nigrelli in Hopewell Junction. He enjoyed gardening when he was not at work. He will be remembered as a hard working man, always thinking of his family, his elevated sense of humor and his generosity and kindness.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Gianfranco Nigrelli and his wife, Anelida of Hopewell Junction and Diego Nigrelli of Fishkill; his brothers, Angelo Nigrelli, Arturo Nigrelli and his wife, Gisella and Frank Nigrelli and his wife, Ida; his grandchildren, Lorenzo, Valerio and Matteo as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Fedelino Nigrelli.

Family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82 in Hopewell Junction. Entombment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.
