Obituary of Lawrence A. Bernardo

Lawrence A. Bernardo, a resident of Pleasant Valley, entered into rest Sunday, October 9, 2022 at his home. He was 67.

Son of the late Anthony and Mildred Bernardo, Jr. he was born September 30, 1955 in the Bronx. Lawrence worked for many years at Kmart in Poughkeepsie where he made many friends. He had a deep faith that was shown in how caring he was. He loved to read and keep current with world events and politics. He was a military history buff. Lawrence also enjoyed collecting and putting things together.

Survivors include his sister, Sandra Porco and her husband, Gino of Wappingers Falls; his niece, Chiara Porco-Ohrvall and her husband, Matt; his nephew, Joe Porco and his wife, Sarah; his great-niece and great-nephews, Noah, Savannah, Giuseppe and Giovanni; as well as numerous cousins he loved.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 14 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wappingers Falls.
