Amelia Touponse

Obituary of Amelia L. Touponse

Amelia Touponse, devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother, and cherished “Aunt Meil,” entered into rest Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at MidHudson Regional Hospital, in Poughkeepsie.  She was 98.

Daughter of the late Vincent Ranalli, and Josephine Paolilii Ranalli, she was born March 5, 1924 in Poughkeepsie.  On January 27, 1947, she married John M. Touponse.  Mr. Touponse preceded her in death on December 16, 1997.

Amelia was a parishioner of Saint Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie.  She was very devoted to her Catholic faith.  Amelia was an avid reader, an immaculate homemaker, and an excellent cook.  Even at age 98, she was still making her signature tomato sauce and pasta fagioli, to name just a few of her many specialties.  Amelia was always there to lend a listening ear and provide her words of wisdom.  She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, John Touponse, Jr., and his partner, Linda, of Texas; her daughter, Theresa Brown, and her partner, Donald, of Millbrook; her granddaughter, Nicole Volpe, of Millbrook; her great-grandson, Devin Toohey, of Millbrook; and her sister-in-law, Angela Touponse, of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank Ranalli, Sr., and her sister, Ann Scianna.

In keeping with Amelia’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Saint Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 62 LaGrange Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
