Obituary of Ilona Baron Rohonczy
Ilona Baron Rohonczy, a resident of Millerton and former longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was 99.
Daughter of the late Géza and Franceska Bock Marothy, she was born September 11, 1923 in Györ, Hungary. In 1969 she married Baron Imre Rohonczy de Felsopulya. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2002.
Prior to her retirement in the late 1980’s, Ilona worked at Ketcham High School in the Wappingers Central School District. She will be remembered for her love of animals, nature and art. She was a prolific writer and reader. She also was very proud to have one time owned an art gallery.
Survivors include her daughter, Klara Ceshi and her husband, George of Atlantic Beach, Florida; step-daughter, Elizabeth Rohonczy of Kars, ON, Canada; step-son, Imre Baron Rohonczy and his wife, Leslie of Ottawa, ON, Canada; and step-grandchildren, Olivia, Griffin, Alden and Eric.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Maria Bastomov.
Ilona will be interred in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Montgomery, NY.
