Obituary of Carole Ann Delaney

Carole Ann Delaney, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the home of her daughter.

Daughter of the late John and Kathryn Simpson McMahon, she was born December 25, 1940 in Revere, Massachusetts. On May 2, 1964, she married Albert R. Delaney in Revere. Mr. Delaney preceded her in death on January 21, 2005.

Prior to her retirement, Carole worked for the United States Postal Service.  She enjoyed her years of service making connections with her regular customers.  In retirement Carole did what she enjoyed the most, spending time with her husband and grandchildren.  Her home was the hub of the family and precious time was spent together for Friday night dinners and endless pool parties.  Carole also had a rich circle of friends and spent many a very late-night playing canasta.  She enjoyed traveling, bowling, lunches with the neighborhood ladies, marathon rummikub sessions, the Poughkeepsie Senior Center and the shows at the County Players.  Carole enjoyed her garden and feeding her birds.  Most treasured, though, was time with her family. 

Survivors include her children, Scottie Delaney and his wife, Jen of Wappingers Falls, Peter Delaney and his wife, Karen of Poughkeepsie, Albert Delaney and his wife, Marianne of Poughkeepsie, and Joan Quinn and her husband, Bill of Poughkeepsie; her brother, Marty McMahon and his wife, Cathy; her grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Matthew, Abigail, Travis and Will; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. during the visitation at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6 at Lakeside Cemetery, Lower Gore Road in Webster, Massachusetts.
