Marion passed away on March 20, 2023 at the age of 95.

She was born on November 21, 1927 to Anthony and Adeline Capio and was one of five daughters growing up in Harrison, N Y. Marion fondly spoke of living in the house her father built until it was lost during the Great Depression. She excelled in school, skipped a grade, and continued her studies becoming a Registered Nurse. She proudly spent her career as a nurse/head nurse in the maternity ward at United Hospital. Marion married her childhood sweetheart Bobby Day in 1951 enjoying 68 years together before his passing in 2019. Marion loved to sing and dance. She spent several years singing bass in the Sweet Adelines Chorus. In her later years, dementia took many of her cherished memories, but her love for music was untouched and she sang along to any familiar song, never missing a beat, remembering every word. Marion spent the last 10 years of her life as a resident of Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill, NY.

She is survived by her children Judy (Robert) Lancia of Wappingers Falls, NY, Wendy Nickolas of New Milford Ct, Robert (Patti) Day of Harrison, NY; son-in-law Raymond (Sara) Altieri; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Karen Altieri and her four sisters.

Family will receive their friends on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton St, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
