Obituary of Frances Donahue

Frances Donahue, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 84.

Daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Svec, she was born March 14, 1939 in Manhattan. In February of 1961, she married John J. Donahue. Mr. Donahue preceded in her in death on July 29, 2010.  Prior to her retirement, she worked for Verizon initially starting as an operator. Frances enjoyed reading and loved to draw; a passion that started when she attended an Art High School.

Survivors include her children, Darryl Donahue, Dawn Ward and her husband Pat, Keith Donahue, and Scott Donahue and his companion, Mimi Mamo; her granddaughter, Ailla; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Frank Svec and sister, Margaret Salese.

Family and friends will gather from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
