Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mimi; his children Kristen, Katie and her husband Keith, and Beth; and grandchildren, Claire and her fiancé Stephen, Matthew, Paige and Jake. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jeff and his wife, Lisa and Doug and his wife, Janet. He was loved by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Marjorie Husted, his brother Robert Husted, in-laws Erma and William Eichenlaub, and sister-in-law, Amy Dane.
Jerry graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta and received his Master’s Degree and Certificate of Advanced Study in Administration from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
Jerry was a student, teacher and administrator in the Wappingers School District. He was a student at James S. Evans Elementary and began his teaching career there. Throughout his thirty year career, he taught and led in many positions. He made an impact on teachers and students alike, throughout the district.
He was an elder at Hughsonville Presbyterian Church and served on the Regional Presbytery. An avid history buff and perpetual learner, he served as Educational Liaison, Board President and Board Trustee Emeritus at Mount Gulian Historical Society.
If you knew Jerry, you knew that he was a proud girl dad. He embraced his role in so many ways, including being a softball coach and a Girl Scout Camp Director. He loved raising his three girls who adore him. Even so, this didn’t hold a candle to the way he loved his grandchildren. Pop Pop delighted in them and they in him.
Jerry was known for his quick wit, his delivery of a good joke, and making a mean Manhattan and the best margaritas! He will be missed beyond measure.
