Susan Mingst

Obituary of Susan Mary Mingst

Susan Mary Mingst, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Friday, June 30, 2023 at her home. She was 73.

Daughter of the late James and Raffaela DiDio Andriach, she was born September 17, 1949 in Manhattan. She attended Cathedral High School in New York City. On March 8, 1969 at St. Dominic’s Church in the Bronx, she married the love of her life, James J. Mingst. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2013. She truly loved her husband and missed him very much. The family takes comfort in knowing they are finally back together.

Susan worked various retail jobs throughout her career, most recently at ShopRite in Poughkeepsie and Walgreens in Poughkeepsie. She enjoyed trips to the casinos; especially some time spent playing the slots. Susan was a great lover of music and often had the radio on most of the day. She also loved concerts and witnessing her favorite artists. In addition to music, she enjoyed watching Reality TV and Crime Docu-Series. Most importantly, she will be remembered for two things; being a feisty, fierce, intelligent and strong woman, a true Italian heritage Bronx girl at heart, as well as her love of her family especially her three grandsons and her dogs, Rosie and Norton.

Survivors include her son, Jamie Mingst and his wife, Jennifer of Peekskill; her daughter, Desiree Mingst and her husband, Kevin Tuttle of Fishkill; her sisters, Rosemarie Ferreira, Diane Tarrant and Barbara Andriach; her beloved grandsons, Thomas Mingst, Joshua Mingst-Tuttle and Jeremiah Mingst-Tuttle; her uncle Pasquale 'Pat' Andriach; her dearest friend Francine Ruh; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Susan on Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. Please remember she wanted no crying, just laughing and sharing stories celebrating her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 10 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, West Stevens Avenue in Hawthorne where she will rest with her Jimmy.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County, P.O. Box 4, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
