Obituary of Arthur C. Eichler

Arthur C. Eichler, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1949 and previously of Beacon, entered into rest Monday, February 15, 2016 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. He was 95. Son of the late Arthur R. and Minnie Hamann Eichler, he was born May 18, 1920 in Brooklyn. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in April of 1946. He married the former Christina Ruf on May 18, 1947 in Beacon. Mrs. Eichler preceded him in death on July 7, 2009. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he worked as a Medical Lab Technician with Mid-Hudson Medical Group in Fishkill for thirty years. He was a life member of the Hughsonville Fire Company. He attended St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls with his wife and had been recently baptized a Catholic. He is survived by his son, Arthur Eichler, Jr.; his daughter, Mary Hughes and her husband, Jonathan; his grandchildren, Ryan Wallace and Michelle Wallace; his great-grandson, Dylan Wallace; as well and his god-parents, Dorothy Oakes and Colin Scheriff. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Members of the Hughsonville Fire Company will meet for services at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in the family plot in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hughsonville Fire Company, PO Box 517, Hughsonville, NY 12537.
