Obituary of Lorraine Nielsen

Lorraine Nielsen, a resident of Fishkill, entered into rest Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 56.

Daughter of Dolores Puzzuole Reynolds and the late Richard Reynolds, she was born February 3, 1967 in the Bronx. On November 3, 1990, she married William Nielsen, Jr. Mr. Nielsen survives at home in Fishkill.

Lorraine worked as an optician at Poughkeepsie Optometry. She enjoyed painting and reading. She will be remembered as a great cook and baker. Lorraine was full of joy and always smiling. She was a great wife and loving and caring mother.

In addition to her husband, William Nielsen, Jr. and her mother, Dolores Reynolds, she is survived by her daughters, Kayla Nielsen, Amber Nielsen, Angelina Nielsen and Katrina Nielsen; her sister, Michelle Curry; her granddaughter, Blake Raine Nielsen-Greene; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her father, she was predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Christopher Reynolds.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 31 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street in Fishkill. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.
