Obituary of Isobel Bogan

Isobel “Ibby” Hunter Bogan, of Wappingers Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Friday, September 8, 2023.

Ibby was born to the late Andrew Hunter and Eliza McCallum Hunter on October 11, 1930 in White Plains, NY. She was raised alongside her brother, Stewart Hunter, and graduated from White Plains High School in 1948. Ibby met the love of her life, James “Jim” Paul Bogan, while they were both employed at Macy’s Department Store, and they were married later the same year on September 11, 1949.

For many years, Ibby and Jim resided in White Plains where they raised their four beloved children, Bonnie, Michael, James, and Kathleen. In 1977 Ibby and Jim retired to Cape Cod, MA, where they spent years making memories with their children, grandchildren, and friends in their beautiful home on a picturesque cove in Gray Gables. The pair relocated to Wappingers Falls to be closer to family in 1986.

A blue-eyed beauty with a feisty spirit, Ibby was an unfailingly present and supportive matriarch to her loved ones through good times and bad. Known lovingly as “Grammy”, she helped raise and nurture multiple generations, volunteered her time as a cub scout troop leader, sewed Halloween and dance costumes, hosted memorable holiday gatherings, always called to sing her vibrant rendition of “Happy Birthday” to her relatives and friends, and proudly attended countless sporting events, musicals, and graduation ceremonies. Ibby devoted her life to her family and was beloved by all. She will be dearly missed.

Ibby was pre-deceased by her parents Eliza and Andrew Hunter, brother Stewart Hunter, husband James Paul Bogan, Sr., son Michael Patrick Bogan and grandson Joseph Michael Cruz.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie Jean Schelechow and her husband Vic, James Paul Bogan, Jr., Kathleen Ellen Cruz and her husband Adrian, Jr.; her grandchildren, Susan Christine Dominguez and her husband Lou, Jennifer Lynn Bram and her husband Michael, Adrian Cruz III, Lisa Marie Champion and her husband Patrick, Sheila Ann and Margaret Mary Bogan; and her great-grandchildren, Nikolas Michael, Rocco Frank and Jaiden Domenica Dominguez, Emma Isobel Cruz, Ella Grace Bram and Hailee Ann and Adriana Joe Champion.
