Obituary of Charles Gallagher

Charles Gallagher, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, October 12, 2023 at his home after a short battle with cancer. He was 55. 

Son of the late Thomas and Edith “Peggy” Loar Gallagher, he was born February 15, 1968 in Beacon. He worked as a sprinkler fitter with Local 669 and Dutchess Fire Protection. He was a jack of all trades and could fix or do everything and anything.

Charlie was part of the Chelsea Fire Department where he held the rank of Lieutenant. He was an avid Jets and Mets fan. Charlie enjoyed playing poker and made the rounds playing tournaments locally and in Atlantic City. He will be remembered for the love he had for his son, Connor, who meant the world to him.

Survivors include his son, Connor Gallagher of Wappingers Falls, his siblings, Betty, Peggy, Patty, Tom, Mary and Rich; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his good friend and caretaker, Jacenta. 

Family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Charlie from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
