Obituary of Raymond J. Kane
Raymond J. Kane, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1958, entered into rest Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his home. He was 90.
Son of the late John and Mary Logan Kane, he was born January 30, 1926 in the Bronx. On November 24, 1956 at St. Helena's Church in the Bronx he married the love of his life, the former Grace E. Rotante. Mrs. Kane preceded him in death on February 20, 2005.
Ray worked as a Field Service Engineer with Green Fan Company in Beacon until his retirement. In doing his work he traveled millions of miles all over the world. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Ray enjoyed reading and was a rail road aficionado who loved to watch the trains. As his children were growing up, he was involved in coaching. More recently, he enjoyed his Tuesday morning breakfasts at Perkins with Dennis Leahy, Sr. Most importantly, he will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, and doting grandfather.
Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Kane-Leahy and her husband, Dennis of Maybrook, Margie Kane of Newburgh and Mary Kane-Hooker and her husband, Mel of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; his daughter-in-law, Adrienne Kane of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Kristopher Kane and Sean, Alyssa and Dylan Leahy; as well as his cousin, Harry DeMaio.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Kevin Kane on November 2, 2012; his brother, John and his sisters, Theresa, Margaret and Catherine.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 7 at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
