Ralph J. La Polla of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., passed away at the age of 75 on February 19, 2024, at Castle Point Veteran's Medical Center in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 16, 1948, he was the son of Vincent La Polla and Elizabeth (Cacciopoli) of Manhattan, N.Y. He moved to the Bronx at an early age, where he grew up. Those familiar with Ralph were aware of his deep affection for the Bronx. He frequently shared stories about his upbringing there, and a majority of his discussions somehow always managed to incorporate the Bronx.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran who loved his country. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma.

Ralph is lovingly remembered by his brother Gregory, La Polla; his children Amanda (Howie) Eichler, Ralph V. (Brooke) La Polla, Joseph (Lyndsey) La Polla, Sandylynn (Jason) Metrando and his youngest son, Jesse (Madchen) La Polla; his longtime companion, Sue; grandchildren, Trey (Cecila) Eichler, Armando (Sarah) Metrando, Jeremy Price, Isabella, and Joseph La Polla II.

Family will receive their friends on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street in Wappingers Falls. Military Honors will be presented at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
